Daimler has raised its stake in British sports car maker Aston Martin as the Anglo-German alliance strengthens, it emerged today. The Mercedes-Benz parent company grew its stakeholding by 1% on 31 July 2014, the company confirmed. Daimler now owns 5% of Aston Martin.
Audi is pulling weight out of its A8 limousine and sticking in more power in an effort to stem the expected upsurge from Mercedes-Benz’s all-new S-Class, also being unveiled for the first time at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The all-wheel drive Audi, which is the top-of-the-range Audi limo, may only change a little visually but delivers big upgrades in its driver assistance systems, as well as tightening its fuel consumption by up to 10%. The Audi A8 L 2011 will debut at the Beijing Motor Show
There were times when we didn’t expect Audi to deliver a W12 engine in the new Audi A8. After all, with the rise and rise of the environmental lobby anything that doesn’t run on bio-fuel and emit fairy dust can expect to be castigated by the green-halo wearers as a planet-killer. So it’s a joy to see Audi give the finger to the naysayers and introduce the new W12 in the new Long Wheelbase 2010 / 2011 Audi A8 revealed this morning.
